WE WERE ASKED TO INITIALLY DESIGN PACKAGING FOR A NEW PRODUCT IN THE SOUTH WEST. AFTER COMPLETING 3 DESIGNS FOR DIFFERENT SIZES OF PACKAGING, WE ALSO DESIGNED ICONS, BAGS AND FRAGRANCE DISCS.
CLIENT
The Dicky Bag is a great looking lightweight container with odour prevention for those
awkward plastic bags of dog poo... and a store for fresh ones too!
It is a new invention by a Newquay based couple. Its unique patented design consists
of storage and dispensing area for clean bags and an airtight container for storing the
full bags until to reach a bin the bespoke air freshener masks any foul smells. There is
even room to store a spare roll of clean bags to avoid that awful moment when you've
come to the end of the roll.
OBJECTIVE
The inventors in Newquay came to Oracle Design to have a professional approach to
the package design, but on a budget. We needed to create 3 different sized package
designs, which were simple and cost effective. This also included how they could
stand on top of one another and be easily shipped, conserving space. In other words
we could not create obscurely shaped packaging or anything that could get in the
way. Also we would need to create logos, designs for bags and fragrance discs.
SOLUTION
Working closely with the client we decided that the easiest and cheapest option for
the packaging was to basically use a standard box shape, but I wanted the product
itself to stand out, so we used a clear box and designed the packaging around the
product itself. I designed three different sizes of packaging for the three sizes of
product that were made.
Oracle Design also created each individual logo for the features of the product and
the materials used, 10 separate icons/logos were designed for this to show how
each feature works and a key to explain each feature.
As well as the packaging design, we designed fragrance discs, which are
included with the product and can be bought separately. Oracle Design also
designed branding for bags, which are sold as a separate product.
