Refreshing and clarifying the brand identity for Newquay Town Council

Well defined communication for a coastal community.

Not every project calls for a full rebrand. Sometimes all you need is a refreshed look and clear guidelines that your team can actually use day-to-day. That’s exactly what we created for Newquay Town Council, the largest parish council in Cornwall. The result is a unified brand system that helps the Council engage effectively with residents, businesses and visitors — and a toolkit they can apply consistently across all services.

A flat lay of pages from a brand guidelines document for Newquay Council, featuring logo designs, colour schemes, typography, and coastal landscape photos, with a yellow, black, and white colour palette.
Eight Newquay Council logos, each in a different colour, labelled: Democratic Service, Corporate Service, CCTV Service, Environment Service, Facilities Service, Library Service, IT Service, and Events.

We modernised and clarified their identity while retaining their original brand mark, giving them:

→ Updated typography and refreshed colours aligned with Pantone guidance
→ A new illustration system to bring personality and flexibility
→ Comprehensive brand guidelines covering every touchpoint
→ Practical roll-out across brochures, signage, billboards and social media templates

Three Newquay Council posters: one orange with a calendar icon and “Let’s Create a Better Tomorrow”, one purple showing a crowd at an event, and one green with two people on a beach and the text “Shape The Future”.

About Newquay Town Council
Newquay Town Council is the largest parish council in Cornwall, providing a wide range of services and support for residents, businesses and visitors. From managing public spaces and community events to overseeing local services, the Council plays a vital role in shaping the town’s future.

A billboard for Newquay Council displays an aerial view of Newquay town and coastline with the text “Your Newquay Your Voice” and the council’s logo, set against a backdrop of trees and an iron fence.
Yellow text on a white background explains the Newquay Town Council brand as representing its values, work, services, people, and community pride, not just its name or logo.
A palette of Pantone swatches arranged in columns, showing full colours and lighter tints, including shades of gold, green, purple, pink, blue, and grey, each labelled with Pantone numbers and colour codes.
Three colourful social media posts: a green one for an environment committee meeting, a yellow one promoting town councillor applications, and a purple one announcing a library story time on 21 August at 11:30 am.
Three photos: a person preparing coffee, a crowd watching a fireworks display, and an aerial view of a beach near a town. The heading Photography Frames appears in yellow at the top left.

Our Work
We worked with Newquay Town Council to refresh and refine their brand identity, making it clearer, more accessible and impactful while retaining the original brand mark. This included developing a new font system, refreshed colours aligned with Pantone guidance, and a set of illustrations to give the brand more personality and flexibility.

Comprehensive brand guidelines were created to ensure consistency across every touchpoint. These covered logo usage, spacing, do’s and don’ts, photography direction, and colour palettes for each of the Council’s individual sectors and services. We also designed practical applications such as social media templates, brochures, adverts, billboards and signage, giving the Council a unified, professional identity across all communications.

The result is a clear, modernised brand system that supports the Council’s work and helps them engage effectively with the diverse communities they serve.
